Description
On Ubuntu 9.10 with Emacs 22 or 23, the PG specific menus are broken (empty menu content, or strange stuff in the "Isabelle" menu: "Complete Lisp symbol ... Evaluate defun".
Same problem for PG 3.7.1

This appears fixed for emacs-snapshot (23.1.50.1) in 9.10. It was a bug with gtk interaction.

Confirmed, at least for Emacs 22. For goodness sake, how on earth did Ubuntu manage to break that?!
Delving a bit further, it seems that they have broken the easymenu package. It's also used by the customize mechanism: look at the "Custom" menu in any customize window, it has the same problem.
Closing here as invalid since it's not PG's bug. But it would be good if someone would report to Ubuntu folk, their Emacs package is broken.
